The Wayside Chapel’s a place of many tears,
struggles and victories
Many of us fall by the wayside at some time in our lives. For some the fall is temporary, for others it may be permanent. Some of us are fortunate enough to have supportive families, friends and neighbors, good physical and mental health and inner strength even in the face of the greatest adversities. Others have endured lives of hardship and abuse beyond most people’s worst nightmares. The incidence of mental illness, homelessness, domestic violence and self-harm is very high. At the Wayside Chapel we try to be the good neighbors seeking to share and support, to balance the load a little, to encourage and nurture, to help our neighbors find their way back on the road.
Established in 1964,the Wayside Chapel is a demonstration of unconditional love and care for the lonely, homeless, abused and dispossessed.
2000 people make contact with the Wayside Chapel per week either by phone or by visiting us at Hughes Street in Kings Cross.

Why a Fashion Show?
The Wayside Chapel, since its inception, has had a close link with the artistic
community. It is our aim to strengthen our link and provide a platform for
various activities with the artistic community. The Fashion Show and Auction
is a natural extension of this aim.
The value of the annual Fashion Show is not just in the money it raises to support The Wayside Chapel’s many community initiatives. The true value is in relationships that were built and fostered through this event, with our neighbours, with our sponsors, supporters and within our staff and volunteer base. The level of publicity served to propagate awareness of the Wayside Chapel to the many hundreds and thousands of people who did not attend the parade itself.
